It was done at the end of WWII and helped the economy. Then we had far fewer give away programs that illegals could take advantage of.
So, yes! It would help everybody except the people who abuse illegals by hiring them under the counter at substandard wages.

You hit the nail right on the head! I have been saying this for years now. One thing that I might add to your list is to fine employers who hire illegals. If they stopped hiring them, there would be no jobs for them here, thus they would not come here!

I’m an American and I’ve served my country for more than four years in the Army and the Navy.
I have to say though, I think that there is a cost for cracking down on immigrants illegally entering the country.
I think its wrong that they can just come and go freely, but having the extra people helps the economy, they buy things just like we do
and even though its a large tax burden, the resources that they would need to send a lot of immigrants home would cost billions more.
I don’t think we should be sending them back, unless we’re sure of the benefit it will provide, and so far nobody i’ve seen has crunched the numbers to the point where its clear that it will be more effective to send immigrants back to their countries than keep them here.
Not to mention whats the deal with having to send them back, yea it hurts our country and us as indivuals and taxpayers, but what happened to the home of the free, land of the brave. There ain’t one single white or black or latino person in this country who’s ancestors weren’t immigrants themselves. Immigrants (mostly illegal) is part of what has made our country great, the manpower that pushed our industrial revolution. Just something to consider.

Easy 2 points, YES, it would help our entire economy. ILLEGAL, what doesn’t everyone see this is against the law of the land. Healthcare is trying to be pushed thru for government to control, this is because of illegals. Americans that want jobs can’t get them because there’s always an undocumented worker to take it at a lower wage because of taxes. Open your eyes America.

Illegal immigration is not the problem. After all, we all are descendant of immigrants. The problem are the fat cats in government and the distribution of wealth, some earning and appropriating themselves high salaries while others are earning the minimum wage.
Another problem in the economy are programs which spend billions such as the space program and the war in Irak. If all the prisoners on death row will be shuttled into space to fend on their own, I would see the space program usefull. Instead, more prisons are being planned. I would prefer if that money should be spend here and not abroad. And what about the millions given by the USA to foreign countries? Again, why? We need the money here.

It will be a great burden lifted from the U.S. taxpayers. Somewhere to the tune of $330 Billion Dollars every year. Can we afford to pay more for items sure we can. Will it put the U.S. citizens who are currently unemployed back to work sure it will.
So all in all it will be a BIG PLUS!
BTW escritor – I think in stead of going to “grad school” you should go into the real world. The War in Iraq it is not the War in Irak.
